at The Mall of the Emirates. This mall holds two of the biggest computer and electronic stores in Dubai: Jumbo and CompuME as well as smaller eMax stores.
It is the perfect place to find a new Dell Inspiron 13z 3520-0376 for 1899AED or a Lenovo G580-8090 for 1999AED.
And as mentioned earlier in a previous post on laptop prices in Dubai the stores won’t differ too much on price but may offer specials whereby they will package a laptop with a tablet or smartphone as a bonus deal.
So shop around!

The Aspire V5 is an awesome touchscreen Notebook that offers 10 point multi touch 14″ HD Acer CineCrystal LCD on Widnows 8 for the V5-471PG model.
And for 2999AED it is a steal. An Intel Core i5-3317U and 4gb DDR3 Memory and a whooping 500GB hard drive top off this saucy laptop.
Compare with the next model up the Acer Aspire V5-571P-6642 15.6-Inch Touch Screen Laptop (Silky Silver) which offers a bigger screen and more RAM (6GB).
Laptop reviews have reported that this laptop is of a solid construction which at the same time feeling very light. People are generally happy with the added functionality of a touch screen.

If you buy a Sony Vaio laptop in Dubai from any of the Sharaf DG stores then you could be in to win a 10,000 AED gift voucher.
The available Sony Vaio laptops all with Windows 8 64 bit are:
T13127: contains a 256GB SSD drive as mentioned in a previous post. Priced at 5595AED.
Compare with the Sony VAIO T Series SVT13127CXS 13.3-Inch Ultrabook (Silver) at Amazon which features a hybrid drive (magnetic drive + SSD drive). A Hybrid Hard Drive provides faster access to your documents, and faster boot up compared to a standard hard drive.
D11215: contains a 128 SSD and a 11.6 inch screen. Priced at 5295AED.
S13125: contains a normal 750GB hard drive (hence the reduction in price) and is priced at 3995AED.
E14122: contains a 320 serial hard drive and costs 2195AED and is still a sufficient laptop for the average user.

When searching for a laptop in Dubai there are a number of very good computer and electronic stores available.
They offer a wide selection of laptops and notebooks ranging from the latest Macbooks to Samsung and HP. And while the sales service may differ between stores the prices of laptops in dubai in particular do not.
So it’s best to compare laptop prices in Dubai with the equivalent machine on Amazon and determine whether or not it’s worth ordering from them and paying a shipping cost.
Delivery to the UAE is resonable fast through the Aramax Shop and Ship service.
It’s better to test out a laptop such as the Apple MacBook Pro MD101LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION) in a store and then check out the reviews on Amazon.
Make sure you look into the laptop accessories such as the battery, hard drive, ram, and power voltage and cord to make sure the laptop is compatible in the UAE.
The take home message is that prices do not markedly vary across major electronic stores such as Sharaf DG, Jumbo, CompuMe and Plugins.

It was always thought that by increasing the RAM would increase the speed of your laptop and while this is true for some applications a solid state hard drive has a greater impact on the speed of accessing documents and opening applications.
So rather than look for a hard drive that has an enormous capacity go for a lesser capacity (i.e. cheaper) SSD drive. You can always back up your music and movies and data on to an external drive if you start to run out of space which you most probably wont.
Laptops in Dubai that house SSDs
The Samsung NP900X3C-A04AE from Jumbo Electronics comes in at a reasonable price (5999AED) as well as a 256GB SSD, and 4GB of RAM.
But drop the capacity down by half and get a Samsung NP900X4D-A02AE for 4499AED with a 128GB SSD and 4GB of RAM.
HP offers the HP 13-2110 which has a 256GB SSD drive and 4GB of RAM. Very similar price to the Samsung NP900X3C-A04AE at 5699AED.
Don’t be fooled into buying a large capacity (slow) hard drive. It’s just not worth it when you can save your non essential data to the cloud or an external hard drive.

We eagerly await the arrival of the new Google Chromebook into Dubai. In fact we couldn’t wait any longer so we ordered the Samsung Chromebook (Wi-Fi, 11.6-Inch). It arrived within the week and we had it up and running in minutes. It really is a beautiful thing.
If you are a regular user of Google docs and gmail then you will love the Chromebook. It is super fast and gets faster. Ours boots up in 5 seconds. There’s no more crashing of clunky software like Office and you can browse the internet at speed.
Antivirus? You dont need it as everything is run through the Chrome browser and Chromebooks automatically update themselves and you get the latest version of the operating system without having to think about it.
This really is that laptop that gets things down.
We are not exactly sure why this particular laptop is unavailable in Dubai with the amount of computer stores around but as soon as it becomes available in stores we will update you as soon as possible.
